Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

At Gauge Ledger, we understand that sharing personal information requires trust. This document explains exactly what data we collect when you use our webinar platform, why we need it, and how we protect it. We've written this in plain language because we believe transparency shouldn't require a law degree.

When you register for a webinar or create an account, you're trusting us with information that matters. We take that seriously. This policy covers everything from the moment you land on gaugeledger.com to when you interact with course materials, communicate with instructors, and everything in between. If something here doesn't make sense or you have questions, our support team actually reads emails at support@gaugeledger.com.

What Information We Collect

We collect different types of information depending on how you use our platform. Some you provide directly, some we gather automatically, and some comes from how you interact with our courses and webinars.

Data Type Examples Why We Need It
Account Information Name, email address, password, profile photo To create and manage your account, send course notifications
Payment Details Billing address, payment method (processed securely) To process course purchases and send receipts
Learning Activity Course progress, quiz results, webinar attendance To track your progress and improve your experience
Technical Data IP address, browser type, device information To ensure platform security and optimize performance
Communication Messages to instructors, support requests, feedback To provide support and improve our services

We don't collect sensitive personal data like health information, political views, or religious beliefs. We also don't track you across other websites or sell your information to third parties. The data we gather stays focused on making your learning experience better and keeping the platform running smoothly.

How We Use Your Information

Every piece of data we collect serves a specific purpose. We use your email address to send webinar reminders, course updates, and important platform announcements. Your learning activity helps us understand which topics resonate most, where students struggle, and how we can improve course materials. Payment information processes transactions securely through our payment partners, and we never store complete credit card numbers on our servers.

Technical data like IP addresses and device information helps us detect unusual login patterns that might indicate unauthorized access. We also use this information to optimize video streaming quality based on your connection speed and ensure the platform works properly across different browsers and devices. When you participate in live webinars, we track attendance and engagement to provide certificates of completion and help instructors understand which sessions work best.

Marketing Communications: We'll occasionally send emails about new courses relevant to your interests, but every message includes a clear unsubscribe option. You control which notifications you receive through your account settings, and opting out of marketing emails won't affect critical account communications like password resets or purchase confirmations.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We work with carefully selected service providers who help us run the platform, and they only access the minimum information necessary to do their jobs. Our video hosting partner stores recorded webinars, our payment processor handles transactions, and our email service sends course notifications. These companies are contractually required to protect your data and can't use it for their own purposes.

We share aggregated, anonymized statistics with instructors so they can see how courses perform overall, but this never includes personally identifiable information. If a course instructor asks "how many people finished module three," we provide that number without revealing who those people are. Instructors only see individual participant information when you actively engage in discussion forums or submit assignments that require feedback.

Law enforcement or legal requirements might require us to disclose information, but only when we receive valid legal process. We'll notify you about such requests unless prohibited by law. We've never sold user data to advertisers or data brokers, and we never will. That's not our business model, and it never will be.

Your Data Rights

You have complete control over your personal information. You can access, download, or delete your account data at any time through your account settings. If you want a complete copy of everything we have about you, email support@gaugeledger.com and we'll provide it within 30 days in a standard format you can use elsewhere.

Deleting your account removes your personal information from our active systems, though we may retain certain records for legal compliance, like transaction history for tax purposes. Course completion certificates remain valid even after account deletion. If you've posted in discussion forums, those contributions may remain visible but will be anonymized to remove your identity.

Data Security Measures

We encrypt all data in transit using industry-standard TLS protocols, and sensitive information like passwords gets additional encryption at rest. Our servers reside in secure facilities with restricted physical access, regular security audits, and comprehensive monitoring. We maintain backups to prevent data loss, and those backups receive the same security protections as production systems.

While we implement strong security measures, no system is completely immune to breaches. If a security incident affects your data, we'll notify you promptly with details about what happened and steps you should take. We also require strong passwords and offer two-factor authentication for added account protection.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how people use the platform. Essential cookies make the site function properly, like remembering your language preference or keeping you signed in between pages. Analytics cookies help us see which features get used most and where people encounter problems.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but this will break some platform functionality like staying logged in. We don't use advertising cookies or allow third-party advertisers to track you on our site. Our analytics tools collect data about site usage, not personal browsing history across the internet.

Children's Privacy

Our platform is designed for adult learners and professionals. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 years old. If you're a parent and discover your child has created an account, contact us immediately and we'll delete it. Some courses may have age restrictions based on content complexity or professional licensing requirements.

International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in Canada, and using our platform means your data may be processed there regardless of where you live. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers and comply with applicable data protection regulations. If you're accessing Gauge Ledger from outside Canada, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred and processed according to Canadian privacy laws.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect new features, legal requirements, or changes in how we handle data. Significant changes will be announced via email and prominently displayed on the platform. Continuing to use Gauge Ledger after policy updates constitutes acceptance of those changes. We archive previous versions so you can see exactly what changed and when.

Questions About Privacy?

If something in this policy isn't clear or you have specific questions about how we handle your data, we're here to help. Real people read and respond to privacy inquiries, usually within 24 hours on business days.
